With so much to see and do around the North East region we have a few suggestions to help plan your stay with us.
Walking, Cycling, Sightseeing, Days Out, Historical, Coastal or Countryside, whatever kind of day you fancy, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
County Durham has some beautiful countryside to explore on foot or bicycle along miles and miles of public footpaths and bridleways, a stunning coastline steeped in history, have a look for some Sea glass, for the more demanding of hikers we have the ‘mini-mountain’ Roseberry Topping not too far away, or take a drive to the Cheviot Hills in Northumberland or the Eastern Fells of the Lake District, where will the day take you?
Stargazers . . . . we are lucky to be located on a hill undisturbed by any neighbouring light, with the right conditions, the moons and stars are truly mesmerizing, a small camp fire with a hot chocolate (or glass of wine) can sometimes make for the best kind of night. Birdwatchers, we are only a short drive from Salthome RSPB Nature Reserve and have a wide array of birds in the skies directly above us.
The Angel of the North, Tommy the Soldier, Penshaw Monument, Millenium Bridge and many more incredible sights to see and appreciate.
For a day out, a visit to Beamish – Living Museum of the North is a must and for some, one day just isn’t enough, great news is tickets give you access for a full year! Explore the awesome setting of Hamsterley Forest, a great day for all the family with various routes set across different terrains, all four-legged friends will love it! or test your metal around some of the more intense mountain bike circuits.
For a more relaxed day and you just fancy staying local, there are some short walks from the park that just happen to pass by a couple of the local pubs, convenient! offering tasty menu’s.
